As the title says, we replaced our Modem with a Motorola MB7420 approximately a year ago. It worked flawlessly for about that year. Maybe a few months ago it started randomly disconnecting, but only briefly. Maybe for 15-20 minutes at a stint, and usually a power cycle would fix it.

However, over the last month, it disconnects at LEAST once a day, usually twice, and for hours at a time. Many hours. Power cycling doesn't fix it, as I've left them unplugged for an hour before and still nothing. The icons on the screen are also showing a disconnect. The top "world" is not lit up, though the top top Ethernet looking plug IS. The power button is obviously lit up. The bottom arrow (what I perceive as the download icon) will blink for 30 seconds, then go solid and the up arrow (upload icon?) will start blinking. After another 30 seconds or so, the top arrow goes away and the bottom arrow starts blinking again, which just repeats.

We have it set up with a very expensive router, though I have my computer hard wired to the router (which is obviously connected to the router) and it naturally goes out too.

As far as I know, the firmware is up to date but it's hard to check for sure since while this modem is off I can't access the modem like you can with most that I've owned.

Having the internet account holder try and get ahold of Comcast today to see if they can force some sort of update, but we all know Comcast sucks to deal with.

Any ideas? I have not tried a factory reset yet.
