Ok so, when ever I load in to like Fortnite, it lags alot for like a minute then it stabilizes but I will have some lag spikes through out my gameplay. My cpu is a Pentium G4400, ram 4gb ddr4 Ballistix Sport 1x. I am saving up to get another stick but I wasn't sure if that is the problem or if it is the cpu. I want to upgrade both but the cpu is going to take longer than another 4gb stick. If you guys need anymore info I can provide. Thanks!

Solution
Your problem is the 4GB of RAM in a single DIMM. That is too little and you are only giving the CPU 1/2 the RAM bandwidth possible. Get a matched set of two 4GB DIMMs and your loading problems will disappear. Buying another single 4GB DIMM might work or it might blue screen. There is no way to know. Get a matched set of two DIMMs (a 2 DIMM kit).

Ok, Thanks! I was planing on getting the same exact stick on the site. I use pcpartpick to get my parts and I still have the list so I was just going to buy the same thing.. and plan on in the future putting in 8gb sticks.

More RAM will help, as will minimising or eliminating the pagefile; but the lag might not be the system at all; it could be caused by the game servers or something along the pathway from your PC to the game server.
OS background tasks like checking email, WinUpdate, AV program checking for updates etc, can also cause lag spikes.

Your "minimizing or eliminating the pagefile" is terrible advice for a poster that has only 4GB of RAM. That is advice that will lead to a lock up for sure. Setting the pagefile to a predefined size (8192 for min and max) for example might help. Eliminating it will only hurt or cause a crash. Don't follow that advice.

I meant AFTER getting the extra RAM, sorry I wasnt clearer on that.

Having checked the game specs, it is recommend to have 8GB, so setting a static pagefile of 4 or 8GB would probably be the best balance.

So, since I have 8gb would I set it to 12,288mb for min and 32,768mb for max? Those sound like crazy number to me... I found an article where it said for min times your amount of memory by 1.5 and max by 4.. and 1gb equals 1024mb.. I do believe..

Control Panel-System-Advanced System Settings, then pick the Advanced Tab on the next two windows.

Virtual memory control is the lower half of the screen; click "Change".

Switch off all the auto settings, pick a drive and select "Custom Size", then enter the same size in MegaBytes in both boxes, or select "No Pagefile".

When you click "OK" you will be prompted to reboot for the changes to take place.
