How to format an hdd with windows on it

I recently switched to an nvme m.2 ssd, and I can't find my replaced hard drive (sata connector is plugged in and it has power) most likely because it has a copy of windows 10 on it. But if I remove my ssd to boot up the hdd windows, it doesn't show the boot option in bios. How do I format my hdd remotely?

(first of several questions)
With no other drives in the system, does it boot up properly with only the NVme drive?

Ahhh....
NVMe drive and SATA HDD.

What motherboard is this?
What port is the HDD connected to?

Very often...use of an NVMe drive in an m.2 port will negate use of one or more SATA ports on the motherboard.
Hence, not seeing the HDD.

It is a Gigabyte AB350M, the hdd is connected to a SATA 3 port.

Do I have to get another ssd? Because I need more than 250gb of storage without spending a crap ton.

No.
You just need to look in your user manual, section 1-7, to see the actual configurations.
Your old HDD will work, but very likely that it is currently connected to a non-available motherboard port.

Use of the m.2 drive negates one or more drive ports on the motherboard.

* Refer to "1-7 Internal Connectors," for the installation notices for the M.2 and SATA connectors.

That shows that it depends on which specific type of NVMe drive.

In any case....switch the HDD to a different SATA port. 0, 1, or 2.
See what happens.

The computer just cant seem recognizing it, I formatted the hard drive completely, switched sata ports, tried recovering windows on it, but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe a new sata cable would help but otherwise I don't know what to do. I really need that storage.

Which specific SATA port is it connected to?
And yes, try a new cable.
