Using same hard drive in a brand new pc

Hi,

I am currently ordering parts for a brand new pc. I don’t plan to use any of my old parts but I am wondering can I use my old hard drive in it and will it work? Keep my OS, all ofnmy files and such on.

You can keep your drive but running the OS through it is not recommended, despite the fact it may work. Motherboard needs drivers during the OS installation that won't be available if you boot directly to your OS of your drive. Back up and have a fresh install for optimal experience.

Trying that will result in one of 3 outcomes:
1. It boots up just fine.
2. It fails completely
3. It boots up, but with lingering issues you find later.

Prepare for a full reinstall.

What OS?
What are the old and new parts?
