PC won't turn on while GPU is plugged into PSU

I built my pc last week and it was running fine till this morning. Went to turn on the PC and it went click. The power supply had red light. Unhooked everything and it powered up. Added hard drives and it started. Plugged in GPU and nada.
Here are my specs.

Chip:i7-8700k
MOBO: MSI Z370 GAMING M5
PSU:ax1500i
GPU: Titan X Pascal
Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB

I think there is a good chance there is a short in the GPU.

If this is the case, the short is pulling down the voltage on the PSU and it doesn't boot.

I think there is a good chance the problem is just in the card and the rest of your system may be fine.

Shorting the PSU probably didn't hurt it.

Well.....even though that looks like a really nice PSU....I am leaning on that there is either something wrong with it....OR....there is a short in the card that is pulling the voltage down.

If you can measure the voltage....or monitor the voltage....you may actually be able to see this occur.

If you can't, or don't want to, I'd swap in another PSU just to see what happens.

I put in a different power supply and it wouldn't power with the GPU connected to PSU. Unplugged the GPU and heard a pop and smelled burning pc but the pc powered up. I Immediately unplugged the pc. Don't know what to do now.

Where you messing with the power connectors while the computer was on, or even plugged in? Test another card (something cheap) in your system see if that one works. The pop could be from the card or PSU, maybe even the motherboard. Not a good idea to be working on a system when it's plugged in, and if you actually had it on, could have killed half the components.
