Hey, I had a WD mycloud with a 2TB HDD from WD but it was pretty limited to my needs so I decided to take it apart and remove the 2TB Drive to reuse it.

I searched for ways to use the Drive to create a NAS and I found the Odroid HC1/2 (I went for the second one since the disk is 3.5").

I know this isn't the best NAS nor the fastest nor the best looking one nor the fastest one but it is more than I need so I went for it after seeing that it can easily reach 100-120MBps on transfers.

I saw this video where OMV is used and setup.

https://youtu.be/AtHzhtkxIc8

That mettod works for what I want but while I was looking at other NAS setups, I heard about ZFS and I think the video I pasted uses ext4.

I don't really know what the differences are and if it is possible to use ZFS.

I also heard that 1TB needs 1GB of RAM. The odroid has 2GB so it should work for ZFS if it's avaliable to use.

I came here to ask help to setup this properly and the best way since I'm not an expert and I want to learn with/from others.

Thanks!

Here's the best definition to zfs that i know. https://searchstorage.techtarget.com/definition/ZFS. If you want data integrity then you will want more than two drives for raid-z2. It takes a minimum of 3. very good option for an nas.
