Hello, so i have a old Microspot 486SLC computer that i found. it had a hard drive but it was broken so i replaced it with a 80GB Fujitsu one, formatted it in the BIOS as a 100MB hdd,and in the setup MS-DOS 6.22 just says that a hard drive isnt recgonized and starts installing MS-DOS on a diskette
any help would be appreciated!

The hard drive capacity is too high for the BIOS to recognise the device on that old laptop, such high capacities didn't exist in that era. Formatting an 80GB drive with a small 100MB partition cannot get around that problem, the drive itself needs to be a small-capacity one like those that existed when that laptop was new.

Getting hold of such a small-capacity hard drive now will be very difficult if not impossible as production of them ceased many moons ago.
