As a beginning, I saw an i7 8700k and a noctua nh-d15s benchmark, the results were fantastic, the cooler was quiet even at high rpm speeds and during the CPU overclocking the temp was good ranging from the 40s/50s to 60°c, so it tends to beat a lot of liquid coolers and it's just $80 so it's very good for price to performance ratio, and these are the best things to get in an air cooler especially noctua. But, why we can't pick a noctua cooler with an i9 or a tr4 CPU since noctua coolers has got all these features?

different mounting ways on sockets, however, the disadvantages of many liquid coolings, especially the bad ones, seem to be unbearabl,e where the pump life span is often unknown and can explode anytime and it's still just used for 2-3 months or leak of liquid, if you were lucky the liquid cooler can stay for 2-3 years, at high rpm they are very noisy. except the case with a corsair or an nzxt or from these ones, liquid coolers are quiet and not very noisy, pump fittings or well installed and everything is very improved. but many air coolers from noctua, cryorig or these manufacturers are still beating many liquid coolings an just for excellent prices, and even at high rpm and full load they are maintaining quiteness.

There's very little incidences of leakage but pumps have essentially same motors as fans, life expectancy is about same. Problem is with pumps being integral with system while fans are easier to replace.
Noctua nh-d15s is probably the best air cooler but it's huge and price rivals a lot of equally or more effective liquid coolers easier to mount without interference with RAM etc. It's really only down to preference.

but it turns out that the person uploaded the benchmark video for the i7 8700k had expected many comments as of the cooler's bad effect on the pc scheme and huge size only, but his answer was: this air cooler ( noctua nh-d15s ) is the best available and beats many liquid coolings, and you'll feel everything's normal after few days.

Yes definitely is true, best air cooler and does beat some liquid ones, specially single 120m but not larger ones. Cooler like CM Nepton 140XL with push-pull 140mm fans and double thickness radiator is first good match for it.
Of course, if you are pushing less than 200W of TDP, it really doesn't matter which one.
