PC crashing and freezing after installing new 1060

As the title states, I got a new Msi gtx 1060 6gb today. After removing my old 660 and installing the new gpu I was initially able to boot it up normally, so I downloaded the 1060 drivers and made sure the old 660 ones were removed.

Whilst plugging in my speakers, the computer froze and would not boot up after turning it off and on again. I then tried to turn it back on and it either booted and went to desktop where it froze once again or restarted, or did not launch at all. I have since tried multiple things, including removing the new gpu and attempting to boot up on integrated, and most importantly I have tried to plug back in my old 660 but these problems still persist.

Edit: now with the 1060 back in it just seems to shut down almost immediately after powering and then switches itself back on but with just a black screen

My pc is an hp envy h8-1590ea with the following
Specs:
Pegatron ipmmb-fm motherboard
GTX 660 2gb (upgrading to 1060 6gb)
3tb hdd/250gb ssd
i7 3770
16gb ram
460w psu

Solution

Go to HP support site, plug in your model and look for drivers for it, one of them will be the BIOS.

Post the full specs on the power supply or a picture of it, main thing is the amp rating on the 12V rail.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I’ve tried to see what brand the psu is but it seems to be fairly bare along with the specs list on the HP website. I can see the words “acbel polytech” so perhaps that is it?

I’ve seen people say about a bios update but I’m not sure how to do it, do you mind if you could tell me?

Sorry if I sound stupid (And I hope you see this as it appears I can’t reply directly on mobile)
