My PC specs:

I just bought new hardware for my PC:
-Intel i7-8700k 3.7GHz
-MSI Z370 Gaming Plus
-Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200mHz, 2x 8GB

I've installed all the hardware in my PC and installed the latest drivers for my GPU and motherboard.
GPU: Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060, 6GB.
The base frequency on my GPU is around 1600mHz. I don't know if it should but my GPU is always running on at least 1600mHz even when I'm not gaming or doing anything. There is a certain game I want to play and my specs are the same as the recommended for the game, with my CPU being better than recommended. Now here's the problem. When I want to start up this game, my GPU frequency instantly rises up to around 2000mHz and causes my PC to crash and turn off, even though this GPU is the recommended one for the game. I have no idea what could be the cause for this. Can anyone please help?

Solution
you have geforce experience right? go to game menu and click on optimize for your games. if that doesnt help there is a little wrench icon that has a slider adjust the slider to left or right and see if that helps. ive had issues with this
