Does the computer shut down? Will it immediately break my external drive? What other risk can occur? This is of course all on accident and nothing to be done on purpose, just curious.

What I want to do is have a M.2 SSD that is internal, use a case to make it external and connect to a laptop as a separate boot either Type c or USB3.0
