I want to buy new cpu. I am confused between i3 7100 and Intel G4560. I am a noob so I did some research and I found out that while the price difference is more, there is not much performance difference between G4560 and i3 7100 except avx/2 . I am confused whether this feature will be useful in virtual machine application or not.
I run a 2-3 vm win 7 machine for office purpose.
So will avx/2 majorly increase performance of i3 7100 when it comes to running vmware workstation?
Or should I go for G4560?
My specs are
Gigabyte GA110m-S2V DDR3
8gb DDR3 hyper fury x2
ZOTAC GTX 1060 6GB
Antec VP600

Thanks.

7th gen does not support DDR3.

You will have to get a 6th gen CPU, I would get a i5 6400 / i3 6100.

Also, DDR3 RAM can damage the memory controller in the long run.

You would be better off selling the DDR3 ram and getting 8gb of DDR4, or selling the mobo and getting a 2nd / 3rd / 4th gen i7 build

I already got the mobo. Actually I am on a very tight budget and I had already 16gb ddr3 ram. That's why I got this motherboard which support 1151 as well as ddr3 ram.

6th gen supports DDR3 / DDR3L / DDR4

7th gen Supports DDR4 / DDR3L ONLY, DDR3 runs at a higher voltage
