Toshiba Satellite P855-S5102 overheats, fan kicks in loudly and shuts itself off constantly. Replaced fan (twice), replaced battery, problem still occurs-thinking of replacing laptop

Solution
It is possible the thermal paste between the CPU and heatsink has dried out. I once had the same problem with my video card. I took the heatsink off the GPU and found the thermal paste had dried to the consistency of thick clay. Cleaning it off and applying new paste solved my problem. Just in case, you should also look for lint and hair clogging the fan vents, preventing cool air entering and hot air exiting.

Dust and lint might be blocking the exhaust and is causing the unit to oveheat.
Try cleaning area between the fan and heatsink with a vacuum or compressed air.
If it does not work you might need to remove the L shaped bottom cover, keyboard and palm rest to properly clean the area.
