Hi all,

I'm trying to install this SSD with already having my HDD, but my computer won't boot. I understand this is originally for laptops but it is compatible with Desktop. I have an ASUS p8z77-v lk mobo. I've tried using some old sata cables I had lying around that came with an older PSU (the SSD didn't come with any). Maybe this is the issue?

I am a big noob when it comes to computers, so if there is any additional information needed to help solve this issue please let me know.

Thanks!

Windows 10. I don't know to be honest. When I have everything plugged my comp won't boot

More details please.
Do you intend to use this new SSD as boot drive or storage drive?
If boot drive, then
  • did you install OS on your new SSD?
did you clone OS from HDD to new SSD?
How have you connected this new SSD? Did you connect both cables (sata data and sata power)?
What error are you getting, when you're trying to boot with new SSD?

I intend to install windows on the ssd, but my bios doesnt even read it. I currently have windows 7 on my hdd, and when i try to install windows 10 with my ssd plugged in, I only see my hdd available. Could it be possible that my motherboard isnt compatible with the ssd?
