USB Header Ext strange behavior

Ok, so I bought a combo wireless NIC/Bluetooth card for PCIe, my USB one dies after 2 months.... The ASUS PCE-AC55BT is what I bought. I installed it on an ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero Mobo. Surprisingly, the drivers were already there. So, the network portion works fine, but when I try to connect the 9-pin USB 2.0 header cable into the "rog ext" header for my Bluetooth device. From what I've seen, the 8-pin Ext header should work for things like that, but my device doesn't show up, and my HDD access indicator just remains solidly lit, despite disk usage.

Any ideas? I want to say that maybe I put the cable on backward, but the USB 2 header next to it faces the same way as I had it installed. Maybe I'm wrong and can't use that 8-pin ext header to power or connect to the Bluetooth device? But I thought that's exactly what that's for...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

So, little more digging and discovered that 8 pin ext header is for, basically non existent products. So, that's out of the question, but it does bring rise to another question...

I do have a fancy shmancy USB 3.1 header on the Mobo that basically nothing uses on the market anyway, so it suits no purpose for me. Does anyone know if there's an adapter/extension cable that can take that USB 3.1 header and make it useful by turning it into a 9 pin USB 2.0 header? I've looked all over, and I can find plenty of ones that turn it from 3.1 to 19/20 pin 3.0, but none that convert it to a 9 pin 2.0. The only other results that ever come up are USB type c stuff, like what I charge my phone with, which is useless for my purposes.
