Sound card upgrade - USB headset compatibility

I have noticed while playing PUBG that people spectating me can often hear footsteps when I cannot i.e. they hear them from further away. I have recently upgraded my headset to a Steel Series Arctis Pro (wired version) which has improved sound quality overall but has not resolved the footsteps issue, most spectators can definitely hear them from further than I can, therefore putting me at a disadvantage. I have decided to install a sound card (Soundblaster AE-5), however, I notice that this card does not have a USB connection when my headset is wired by USB. Does this mean I need to replace my headset or is there a way around this?

My MB is an MSI Z370 A Pro if that is relevant.

Many thanks

Internal sound cards do not incorporate a USB port since there would never be any need to use it.

USB headsets contain their own sound chip (technically a "DAC") - - - when you plug a USB headphone/headset in to a PC it doesn't connect to the internal sound card at all - - - it can't because there is no circuit path connecting an internal sound card to any of the USB ports.

Therefore, you'll need to replace your headset for one which has a pair of 3.5mm jack-plugs if you intend to plug them in to the SoundBlaster card.

Then use SoundBlaster software settings to adjust mic volume so it doesn't pick up sound of footsteps.
