Can’t remove aio backplate

So I got I faulty Maximus x hero z370, have to send it back but i can’t remove the coolermaster ml240l rgb backplate from my motherboard.
Applying pressure feels like it will break

It may have had some sticky adhesive on it when attached. Sometimes that is used to hold it in place while attaching the front side parts. It might have gotten hot and baked itself in place. Try twisting it a bit as you pull one corner free. Work your way around. If you have a thin flat-edged pry tool of some kind (similar to one of those phone opening tools), you may be able to wedge it under one corner and work it loose... carefully.
