Google Drive Storage

Hello,

I want to remove ALL my photos from Google Drive, without deleting them, or deleting them from other devices.

Apparently, Google Drive automatically synced everything. I did not know it would do this.
Google Drive will only let me delete them. This is not an option, as I wish to keep all my photos.

How do I safely retrieve all my photos from Google Drive, and place them into a folder on my desktop, please?

After I retrieve all my photos, I want to delete Google Drive. I no longer wish anything to be synced to it, or to be connected to it in any way. How do I do this, please?

Are you able to access your drive normally? Do you still have some of the pictures that were synced on your device? If it's telling you that you MUST delete some of the photos to make room, start with the ones you already have on your system. If you are able to access your drive normally, you can group select all the photos you want by holding control and clicking the photos you want. When all of them are selected, you can right click, then click download. It will download all of the selected photos into a zip folder, which can then easily be opened from the desktop. The more information I have the more I can help.

For Google Drive to copy your photos you needed to have setup syncing or backup of Google Photos or your drive.

Are you specifically talking about Drive or are you looking at Photos app?

You may also have setup the Backup and Sync option.

If you want to make sure that your files do not get deleted, just make a backup of them on another drive, which you should be doing anyway.
