Is it worth it to buy 1060 in June 2018?

I've been saving up for quite a while now for the 1060 6gb but I am hesitant on whether or not to buy it. Many people say that the new gen of gpus are coming.I am buying at 300 Usd. Is it worth it to buy a 1060 right now?

+1^ I'd agree with PuperHacker. It's kind of a bad buy right now.

BUT, it depends on a number of factors. Like, what system you have (CPU/Ram/MOBO/PSU etc), what you hope to achieve frame rate wise, and what res you monitor is or intend to game at.

If for example, you had moderate system, and a 1080p monitor @60hz, then getting the 1060 isn't a bad buy. It will keep you gaming at that res for a year or two, and max out most games (game dependant!).

If on the other hand you have a high end system, then it's a bit of miss match. If you have a low end system, with a weak CPU then you may well bottleneck the GPU and not have a good experience.

More info will help with a better answer.

That depends on how dire your need is. If you really can't wait to game, go for it. Just consider that it is a 2 yo GPU sold at MSRP and that the new geforce GPUs are just around the corner.
It would be unpleasant to invest in that GPU and see the brand new gtx1160 released after a month...
Were I you, I would contemplate my needs and probably save up for a little more.

My specs;
CPU: Ryzen 3 2200g apu
PSU: Gamemax 500w 80+
Mobo: asrock b350m pro-vdh
Ram: 8gb @ 2400mhz klevv bolt single stick
Monitor: Dell 2417HG 1920x1080 at 60Hz 24 inch


I forgot to mention that I previously had a 1050 ti but I sold it to get enough money for a new gpu. So now I am using the 2200g's apu graphics.

First, I'd want a better quality PSU to start putting in a discrete GPU.

Second, there are several GTX 1060 6 GB that are available new at the $300 mark. I sure as sugar wouldn't buy used at the same price I can buy new. Unless they knock off $100 or something, it's not worth a second of thought at that price.

if you can wait check around amazon/newegg for deals on gpu.

if you cant wait then i'd suggest getting an evga one.
they have a program ( https://www.evga.com/support/stepup/ ) in which you can upgrade to a better card by paying the price difference within 90 days (which is helpful if a new card will be out by then) of buying & registering product on site. (just avoid the cheapest single fan one as it has a horrible heatsink)
