Hi,

A few months back I bought 2X8GB ram sticks.
They are working fine, but I need more :\
So, I want to get 32GB, and I was thinking of buying the same dual set and install them all together, will they work together? is it recommended?

Thanks!!!

Yes, in general that mobo definitely supports 4x8 sticks. But, as has been said numerous times in this thread, any time you combine sticks purchased separately you run the risk of compatibility issues.

What do you use your PC for? Like I said, for most people there will be no difference between 16 and 32 GB of RAM. As you said, you're only using around half your current capacity at most. And of that, some of it may just be Windows caching/preloading stuff taking up some RAM, which it would releas if you were to actually get close to running out.

Also, although you may think you've found a good deal, keep in mind that we're in the middle of a RAM shortage, with prices double or more what they were a year or two ago. Now is a pretty...

RAM is only guaranteed to work together if purchased together as a kit. It may work fine, but you won't know for sure until you try it.

As an aside, what CPU/mobo do you have? Most mainstream platforms are only dual channel (with two slots per channel), not quad channel.

Do you think I will have a problem?

OK, so with that CPU/mobo, you're limited to dual channel. As has been said, combining two different kits may or may not work. But I feel I should ask, why do you think you need the extra RAM in the first place? 16 GB is more than enough for the vast majority of people/use cases.

Dunno, why it is so scary adding new ram. Chances to work are high, sure, it may not be at the speed you want it, but it will work most of the time. If you are really worried, bring the pc to Best Buy or some local computer store, they can get you a working pair without the hassle of worrying about it.

It's not "scary". It's just that people assume any combination of RAM sticks will magically 'just work'.
Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.

Well, most of the time my memory consumption is at around 50% but in some conditions I exceed it, and I can get those extra RAM in a good deal so I thought it will be great to have 32gb even though it is not a must-have.

I did find this at the Asus website where the quad set of 4x8gb is compatible with my MB, is that an indicator that it will work?
