I need some advice. At the moment im running a i5 2300 and gtx 960 with a tecnoware fal550fs14 power supply. If im looking for an upgrade to a ryzen 3 do i need to change the psu or am i fine for antother few months. Thanks!

Solution
check the psu specs it only have a 4 pins atx depends on the board you will choose some use a 8 pins cpu atx connector so you might also need a new psu and ddr4 ram .

To verify, you're using a 550W power supply and you're worried about power consumption with Ryzen 3 CPUs? If that's the case, You should be fine. The TDP of the Ryzen 3 line is 65W vs the 95W of the i5-2300.

You have a point. You might very well have to purchase a new one. I didn't even think about the motherboard power pin difference. You could *try* a 4 pin to 6 pin adapter, but it might be a better idea to purchase a new one. You can purchase PSUs relatively cheaply.
