Sudden drop in fps and lag on my pc

Hi, I am new to here, so I am not sure if this is right place for me to ask this question but if this is the wrong place, I will gladly change.
But anyways, my pc was performing well till yesterday, but today when I wanted to play overwatch and fortnite in same settings, it had massive fps drops which I never had till yesterday. Also my computer generally got slower and laggy even when I open certain applications such as Microsoft edge or just start menu. I even got lag on start page so I ahd to restart the pc. This is really weird as it performed so well till yesterday but suddenly it is so laggy and dropped in fps. This computer is just under one years old. I suspect it is lack of ram but I was playing well before with 4gb ram( had lag but barely noticeable) but now suddenly it is unplayable at this settings. So, this doesn't make sense its lack of ram...

I updated my graphics card driver using geforce experience and scanned my pc with avast and no virus was detected as these were the solutions from other threads.

This is my pc spec: i3-7100
gtx1050tiOC 4gb
4gb ram ddr4 crucial ballistix ram
450w corsair power supply
msi bazooka motherboard
120gb samsung ssd (windows 10 boot drive)
1tb hdd for extra storage

My settings for fortnite is on epic vie distance medium shadows, high anti aliasing, epic texture.@1080p

I have video of me playing fortnite with msi after burner on and this shows my cpu temp and usage and gpu temp and usage and memory and ram usage. ( apparently on after burner memory and ram is different) I also had high ping but I can tell the difference between high ping and fps drop.

I would appreciate all the helps given, and thanks in advance!:)

I think it is your RAM. 4GB of RAM is the minimum requirement for fortnite, so it probably started hogging it all when you turned the graphics up. The video for that link seems broken though so I can't see temps or anything. It could be your CPU overheating though. Can you post a screenshot of the temps while gaming or stress testing?

Thank you for replying. The video was in private so I edited in new link. But if that still doesn't work, this is a screenshot: https://imgur.com/zuxkTUb
However, I didn’t change the setting at all, it stayed the same at recomm need settings by GeForce experience.
Thank you

First off, make sure your drivers are all up-to-date. Second, those settings are pretty high for your setup. You should turn them down some and then turn on vsync to see if it helps with stability.

It is hard to tell what is causing your lag though because your cpu and gpu are both downclocking at the same time and your ram usage is nearly 100%. You probably need to do more testing. Try monitoring during a stress test to look for throttling. You should also try other games to see if it just fortnite.

Hi, the only driver I have is graphics card driver and I already updated it. What do you mean by "cpu and gpu are both downclocking?" sorry I don't understand the terminology... But if downclocking is not using full potential of the cpu and gpu, isn't that meaning it is getting throttled by other components, not cpu and gpu's fault?? Sorry, can you explain what downclocking means:p

Thank you!
