Recently my i7 4790k died and unfortunately I do not have enough money to upgrade directly to the i7 8700k however this is going to be my end game goal. In the mean time I am currently using a pentium g840 and some random motherboard I had lying around - I was planning on buying a i5 3470 just to have so I can play some games I used to enjoy like Arma 3 and PUBG for the next few months whilst I save for a i7 8700k, new mobo and ram. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on this choice is? My graphics card is a 1060 3GB and I have 8GB of Corsair 2400Mhz RAM. Any advice will be appreciated - Thanks guys!

For that price I would go for it to hold you over and you should be able to sell back for similar price.

See the thing is - The only game I can currently run is CSGO and League of Legends and I get 30 FPS on both on lowest settings so I do feel forced. I miss playing PubG and streaming and at least with that i5 I can play PubG and other games like that.

I can get the CPU for £35 which is pretty good I think.
