Bought a broken PC, Need advise

I bought a computer from a private seller yesterday. The kid said he didnt know what was wrong with it but it would not boot at all. I checked it out before buying it and it was obvious it wasnt taken care of. It had a custom water cooling system that was half empty so i figured right away that it had prolly leaked out onto components. It has 3 radiators and all 3 were clogged completely up with dust. I ended up buying it for 200$ just to see if I could salvage anything.

Here is the specs:

i7 6700k
32gb of ddr4 g-skill 2400 ram
Evga gtx 980 ti SC
AS Rock z170 extreme 4 motherboard
Rosewill quark 1000W powersupply
1 3tb harddrive
1 2tb harddrive

I pulled all the components out of the case and cleaned each one. I set everything up on the table without the case and was able to get the motherboard to post and into the bios with 1 ram stick in the 4th dimm. Nothing else would post at all. I didnt run it but just for a few seconds because the cpu and gpu had no cooling besides a fan blowing straight on the mobo. So my question is since I was able to get into bios what are the chances the cpu and gpu are good? The motherboard is probally toast since it wouldnt boot in dimms 1-3 so Ill be ordering a new one. Im doing away with all the watercooling components so I ordered a cpu cooler but I'm not sure what to do about gpu cooling. Its not a reference card so I dont see many options out there for 3rd party cooling?

Assuming the CPU wasn't damaged, you could try taking it and the RAM out of the motherboard and putting it into a working motherboard and see if it POSTS. Same with the graphics card - assuming that it wasn't hooked up to the same radiator. The hard drives you can definitely salvage, and you could always test the PSU in another PC to make sure that it works.

Thats my problem. My main PC is Ryzen based so I cant test it there although I guess I could test the ram, both being ddr4.

I went ahead and ordered a motherboard and cpu cooler. I can test the psu, cpu, ram with that using integrated graphics.

I guess I could rig up the watercooling for just the gpu since I cant find a aftermarker air cooler for it. Can I just run a loop including pump, radiator, and gpu block or do I have to use a reservoir also

Possible. If your GPU is hooked through the loop it should definitely be cleaned if you're going to hook it back up to the loop.

on the mb if the cooler was on to tight or there bent pins under it the memory wont work. on the parts there newish and should be under warranty. you should be able to rma them without an issue. on the video card the evga have had bad coolling and vrm on the gpu. a few of them have gone up in flames. there are few youtubes video about them. i would contact evga customer relation and get a replacment sent to you that has been updated.

Well it was all hooked together. 1 pump, 3 radiators, 1 reservoir, cpu block, and gpu block. Ive already gutted the case and the loop is in pieces. I really dont want to use any of it but since I dont have any other means of cooling the gpu can I just hook up the pump - one of the radiators - and gpu block?

Normally the loop would go like this: Pump - Radiator - CPU - GPU then back to the radiator and the pump. Could you post a picture of the GPU? We could see if it's running on factory cooler or on a liquid based cooler.
