So today I purchased new ram for my computer and it didn't work, I tried a method I saw on a forum where someone said that removing the cmos battery and putting it back in may help. It didn't fix my problem, it made it worse. I decided to put back in my old ram and now my computer isn't working. It's doing exactly what the new ram did before hand. When I put the new ram in the computer itself started but nothing else, like the monitor/keyboard and mouse, then it would eventually turn off and restart again. It is now doing that on my old ram. I have tried to unplug and replug everything and still nothing. I may have broken or damaged the CMOS battery as it doesn't stay in there and is easily able to be removed, before hand it was difficult to remove, I would have needed to use a screwdriver. I didn't know what the CMOS battery did, but I'm pretty sure that it's the reason to why my computer isn't starting. If there is anyone who knows a solution to this that would be very appreciated
If not I'm looking for the answer to my question which is, should I get a new motherboard/same motherboard and would that be able to fix my problems as it would let me have a new cmos battery, I'm certain that nothing else is broken or damaged within my PC. I am also wondering if I could just buy another CMOS battery but I think im more interested in getting a new/same motherboard if it would solve my problem.

Computer specs:
I7-4970 3.6GHz 4 core
AsRock B85M-ITX
Crucial ballistix 8Gb ram (4×2)/Crucial Ballistix sport 16GB ram (2x8) still have it
Seagate 1TB Hard Drive
MSI R9 380
Evga 500w

My motherboard:

@Captain, I only turned off the PC it was still plugged in to the wall and the power supply switch was still on. It makes its usual noise I don't know about the harddrive but it makes a beep noise when I turn it on, the cmos battery is loose and when I try to push it in it isn't all the way in meaning it has part of it being out. I currently dismantled my PC and removed all the parts and am currently trying to order a new harddrive and new motherboard

Did you switch off the PC at the wall or psu before removing/fitting the RAM? If not you may have damaged it as the motherboard still has power to it when switched off using the normal "Power" button.

The CMOS battery is usually held in by a small spring; I havent ever managed to break one, so look to make sure nothing had lodged UNDER the battery, and that the battery is the right way up. (Smaller diameter side down)

The cmos battery keeps power to the BIOS chip, so the PC remembers what the hardware settings are; if the battery is removed or goes flat, the PC should still boot.

A battery holder could be replaced by someone with suitable skill.

Does it beep, or do either the Hard Drive or Power light flash??
