Both PC's not working- identical symptoms ?

I have just moved to a new house. I hooked up my main PC it worked fine. I went into the kitchen to unpack appliances and hooked up a new Microwave and when I came back my PC was cycling on and off and all the fans and fan lighting was off except one fan.

Thinking something got damaged in transit, I hooked up my 2nd PC and it exhibited virtually identical symptoms. Both PC's were working flawlessly as of yesterday at my previous residence.

Both PC's were hooked up to a surge protected power board, which did not trip.

I have tried several power points and different boards, but no luck.

I called the power company and they said they were still awaiting network confirmation and that I was in "Limbo". As per protocol in my state/country the power does not get shut off.

They were not aware of any draw restrictions given the circumstances.

It just appears that both PC's are not getting enough juice, as there only seems enough power to light up and operate one fan out of 8.

The main rig has a 1200w PSU and the other has a 750w PSU, possibly a correlation in the that the main rig cycles on and off, but the other remains on but does not function.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would find out what the power specification is for your country. It will be in voltage AC. Then I would check the outlets to make sure you are getting what you are supposed to be getting.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Things have taken an interesting turn.

I plugged in my 2nd newer PC again and while putting the side window back on the case, subsequently giving the chassis a slight tap in the process, the fan lighting turned on. Further inspection would reveal the DP cable was a bad one, so the PC was working all along. It was doing a good job of emulating the same symptoms as my main PC and fooled me good.

Replaced DP cable and got a signal.

Eventually I got around to inspecting the main rig which was cycling on and off. After some finagling and a few cold starts, during which the PSU fan was going nuts like I have never seen before, eventually it started but with slightly different powering on/resetting characteristics.

I couldn't get a signal for a long time with either HDMI or DP. I switched the GPU into slot 2 and after booting into safe mode, windows started normally but prompted me to restart to register the graphics card.

The PC remained on for 24 hours without issue, but when playing a game it would freeze up and a violent robotic sound would play through the speakers. This happened at random moments, but usually within 10-20 minutes of playing.

Being that this mobo has seen virtually 6 years of almost 24/7 operation and also given the fact that certain components on the board have already died, I'm almost certain it's the Mobo. One of the ethernet ports died a while ago and I've had intermittent issues with audio.

If it's not the Mobo, it has to be the PSU. I do have an old PSU but not sure if it's the right form factor, as it only has 2 x 6 pin PCIE rails. The main ATX cable has 24 terminals so I might be in luck.

I'd really like to get the main rig going again as it's got a 3770K in it that outperforms my newer 1151 rig. Will test with other PSU and report back.
