I plan to be go to Microcenter soon and I am on the fence about how I should invest in my new CPU/MOBO. One part of me is thinking to get a B350 MOBO and Ryzen 1 (1600x) processor for cheap, but sometimes you get what you paid for. I haven't seen any benchmarks or reviews showing Ryzen 2 blowing Ryzen 1 out the water. It looks to be more of an intel style generational bump. I mainly do 1080 gaming and I am going to recycle my GTX 970 and H80i v2 cooler. Is there something I am missing? I don't plan to do any aggressive OC or mess with ram timings unless necessary.

Solution
I wouldn't say exactly "blowing out of water" but 2600x is better in two things, memory handling and automatic OC (XFR2).
With RAM up to 3000 - 3200MHz, 3xx series chipset is fine, for full use of XFR2, a 4xx series chipset is needed.
