Need a good sound card

I recently built a new computer with Windows 10 and for a sound card I purchase Asus Xonar DGX which turned out to be a piece of CRAP!!! I have tried for weeks to make it work but just cannot install the driver. Asus is no help at all and from what I have read just about everyone the purchased the card had or has similar problem. It seems Asus in phasing out this card and the support for it. NO MORE ASUS PRODUCTS FOR ME!
Can anyone recommend a descend sound card that works? I am not looking for something exotic but a good quality sound card. Thanks.

I have an Asus Z270E board with PCIE_X16, PCIE_X8, PCIE_X4 and (4) PCIE-X1.
I have used 2 sound card and 3 different USB cards in 3 available PCIE-X1 slots and none has worked. I am beginning to suspect that may be none of the PCIE-X1 slots are working. First time in 20 years I have run into this problem with PCIE slots. Is there anyway to verify and test this slots to see if they are working or not? Right now I would settle for a sound card for PCIE-X4 slot (full length slot), any ideas? Thanks.
