I want to buy sound for a car, I'm looking at the Pioneer Champion series TS-W3003D4 12inch subwoofer (600RMS) with a targa terminator 2 series monoblock (800RMS)... Does anyone know the impedance of this amp? Also how much bass could I expect and would this be a good combination?

sorry it's been a long time since i have payed attention to the car audio industry. when i was a teen i could have answered this question as we all had aftermarket systems in our crappy first cars :)

pioneer was a respected radio brand but don't think i have ever read anything about speakers from them. i'd suggest some reading of car audio magazines/websites for a while to be sure you are fully informed in what you are buying. especially if you plan on tweaking the parts to run outside their specs. such as a lower than spec ohm rating and so on.

make sure it has enough air to run in the box you install it to. makes a big difference in how it performs. specs say it needs 1.25 ft3 of space. so get out that calculator and do some math on the enclosure to be sure it has the air it needs.

yup, that old high school geometry is still good for something :D

Okay yeah sorry for the newbie question.. Thanks for the spec sheet! I'll put it on a 2ohm load because I think the amp can handle as low as 1ohm, I'll put it in a ported box at the recommended volume..

Another question regarding those two brands mentioned in my first post... Are they a decent quality and would they work together? I don't want to buy something cheap that won't last long so I was wondering how high end or low end those brands are in the audio industry?
