What cpu would be equivalent to the power of a Core2Quad Q9450. Like a i3 or i5? Also, how would it hold up against games of today.

it's a lot weaker then even the most entry level chip out today. it is a very old chip though it is still viable for some gaming tasks.

cpu's were still gaining a lot of performance every generation at that time it came out. so there is really no comparison to anything put out in the last few years.

with that in mind paired with a decent gpu, it could still play many new games at lower settings. i have an old q6600 system with an r9-270 in it and the kids still play a lot of newer games at 900p or 1080p for less taxing games. they are not really complaining. not gonna be able to play those massive moba games that crush even a new cpu though. that's just not gonna happen.

edit: sorry for not adding this the first time but Tom's actually maintains a list of the cpu's and their equivalents. check here

and note your C2Q is around an amd x4 870/80k or old school fx-6300 in speed. you can still find an old 6 or 8000 series fx chip in some new reviews but they are almost always unplayable when they are testing at max settings for new games.
