Hi there, recently I've been having weird issues that started yesterday evening, I was playing games when I was suddenly disconnected, I attempted to reconnect only to sit in a queue for ages so eventually gave up (The game had just released a new update so I thought servers were having problems) I ended up trying to play again later on with a friend only to find that whilst my ping was completely normal and stable on the main menu, once I got into game I was getting a ping of about 1500-1600-1700 etc etc. In other words, it was completely buggered. I attempted to play another game I frequent with the exact same issues, except, in the opposite format, high ping when i look at it from the server menu, low and completely stable ping once I get in game.
I'm confused as fuck and don't know what's going on, this issue started last night and has happened since that point. YouTube struggles to load videos yet my ping when I do speed checks on SpeedTest.net it displays completely normal ping, download speed and upload speed.
Recently I have been downloading some relatively large files, but nothing exceeding 10GB at the absolute very maximum a day. (Somedays it would be much less than that) This is alongside me being connected to video game servers for long lengths of time (between 4 and 10 hours depending on what the day is like and how long I'm at work for, though this isn't a constant connection, I'll play like 1-4 hours of one game then hop off and come back later after watching netflix for a bit) so I wondered whether my ISP is throttling my connection but am not sure
Connection info:
Provider Virgin Media
Speed 100 Mb/s Unlimited Fibre Optic
Anyone have any ideas? I've restarted the router, disabled the firewall, done multiple different things but cannot figure out what the issue is.
Update:
Called Virgin Media, the bot seemed to detect some issues and tried to fix it over the phone, nothing worked, called again and spoke to a bloke who said that he can't see any issues with the internet and more or less tried to fob me off, I'm seeing a very large amount of packet loss using a program called PingPlotter, it's displaying about a 40-80% packet loss even though the ping seems to be stable, the gameplay most certainly is not for obvious reasons. He said to me nobody there can deal with ping issues so I replied "Okay, you can't, but who can" - His reply "Nobody", so I say "So nobody in Virgin can deal with this issue even though the issue is very likely in direct relation to yourselves?" then he starts trying to help some more. He started talking about a pinhole reset but we've had packet loss issues with Virgin Media before and a pinhole reset last time did not fix the issue. Though I must say, the issue was nowhere near to this scale.
