In my pc
I installed 4gb ram but system only using less than 3 gb
But my system is 64bit os
My configuration is
E8400 processor
Esonic g41 motherboard
Adata 4gb ram 1333 bus

I used before 2gb ram then i installed more 4 gb ram but system says 6gb installed but less than 3gb usable
I tried then single 4gb ! That also same result!!
I tried msconfig to uncheck maximize ram but didn't work for me.
Also tried desable onboard graphic that increase just few space then my ram usable just 3gb now!!
I have also msi 610 gpu

It is because you have allocated only that much of RAM to be used. Try this : Open Run (Start+R) ---> "msconfig" Enter ---> Go under "Boot" Tab ---> Advanced Options ---> check "Maximum Memory" and define the number (4096 for 4 GB) ---> Apply the settings (Takes effect after restart)
Note: There is a very slight chance that you might experience BSOD after this, so create a restore point before attempting this so that you can restore to the point easily.

Did you try the potential solution that i gave? If that does not work then your PC might have something called "Shared Graphics" where 1GB of the memory is Reserved for for system maintenance purposes for smooth running and Graphics
