Hello. So i've been worried and scratching my head at this.

I recently just installed windows 10, initially i installed with my other HDDs plugged in resulting in the dreaded white flashing underscore screen. I removed them, left only my SSD in and reinstalled windows. Plugged in my other HDDs and wiped them with disk manager. Thinking this is okay now?

the resulting problem, is i see the bios splash screen, then maybe my mobo splash. then the screen goes black for afew seconds then proceeds to my windows login. as i havent actually have a comparison in what it should be when its 100% working, i.e my first installion was a mess. Is this right? im sure that it shouldnt go to a black screen and should just go from splash to windows login. Theres a video attached for easy viewing.

I bought the PC monday...

My systems are
i7 8700k
ASUS z370-E
1080ti Palit

P.S also would an admin delete myother thread? same title. just wanted this as a question solution

Yes this seems normal. You can go into your BIOS and look at your settings related to quickboot/splash screen. Possibly shave a few seconds off the boot up there if you wanted to.

The blank screen is basically the switch from the BIOS to Windows in terms of graphics driver responsibility.

I did play around with the 'fast boot' option which i came across in afew threads. Ideally i was looking at it to skip that black screen but it didnt. it did seem faster, having it off i think though.

So whats happening is normal? my very old and current machine, goes from Bios splash screen to alot of text, then windows. No black screens appearing etc. Will it always be there, or did i install / arrange some incorrectly for it to be present. Before i installed my GPU drivers, i dont think it did that blank screen, it was straight from splash to windows so i just feel somethings up.

also, my friends machine who has the same Mobo, but a diff GPU he doesnt get a black screen appear, but his was built by a pre-building company so their splash is consistent then only dissapears when it goes into windows login. Our specs are almost identical apart form he has an Asus gpu. our machines are about 1 month apart in terms of when they are purchased so its not outdated hardware.
