Would lowering RAM speed harm RAM?

I am performing tests on my RAM, currently I get amazing hardly if ever lower than 30fps on most games like nier Automata at about PS4 Settings (1360x786 high) on my budget Ryzen 3 2200G with 8 GB G.skill 3400Htz RAM. But I'd like to test the games on lower RAM speeds to see if I can get a similar performance with, theoretically cheaper, RAM. Would turning the speed of the RAM down harm the RAM in any way? Or is it just when you overclock when you can damage the RAM?

Underclocking never hurt anything, provided you don't touch the voltage. You are just ordering your RAM to run at lower speeds than it should, so it may actually expand the memory's life span. btw, you will notice almost no difference in games.
