HELP! PC boots up for 1-2 seconds and then shuts down!

This is my first time building a PC. I'm struggling to figure out why it boots up for 1-2 seconds (all the fans spin, gpu lights up, fans light up) when I press the switch on my case and then it completely stops functioning, but theres still two little white led lights on both my GPU above the PCIE power cable for them. I've tried taking out both the GPUS and reinserting them with force, I've made sure my CPU and MOBO power cables are in, i've reinserted the RAM with force, I've tried re-assembling the CPU AIO cooler still no progress and the same result. I'm not sure what the problem may be, and how I can fix it, this is my first time building a PC and it has drained me mentally and physically to say the least. I'm not sure if any parts are faulty, and I'm too scared that if I keep touching my PC I'm bound to ruin something. When the PC is functioning for the 1-2 seconds, the monitor has the "ASUS" white logo for that short amount of time, and then when the PC stops functioning and the lights go off, fans stop, "No displayport signal" with a red border appears. Then the screen just goes blank. Has anyone else experienced something similar and how did you fix the problem?

Solution

yes, it is safe. From what you are reporting it does seem like a mobo malfunction. Many arrive damaged, so what you gotta do is contact ASUS asap and claim an RMA for it.

No I haven't gotten to BIOS, it only functions and powers up for 1-2 seconds, and the ASUS sign only appears on the monitor, I havent reached BIOS. I have made sure all the cables in the PSU are in firmly, the switch power plugs are put in the correct headers according to the ASUS manual. However I have not tried booting with only one GPU. Would it make a difference?

I am so confused because it boots up, and the PC functions for 1-2 seconds but then just completely stops. I'm not sure what the problem is and its been many days of troubleshooting and my PC is still not ready.

It could help. Generally, when a system malfunctions, I remove all the extra parts that could be inducing the problem. That does include your RAM (run with solely 1 stick) and GPU (run with only 1 GPU).

Please do not be disappointed, as everything in computers has an explanation. In the end you will be able to find the issue.

In which slot on the MOBO do I put in the single RAM?

Preferably the one that is closer to your CPU, but it doesn't really matter. Trying on different slots could determine if there is a malfunction in a port.

start with seeing if the pc mb has an old bios and it causing the no post. use the usb flashback port and put the newest bios file on it. all you need is power and a usb stick and a renamed bios file. if the mb still wont post see if you forgot any of the standoffs to keep the mb from shorting out to the mb tray. if not pull the mb from the case and with no video cards and just one dimm with the mb on a box see if it posts. if it posts there a dead short in your case. if there no post and the same issue. try a test power supply.

Tried using one stick of ram, two, five and still i'm experiencing the same issue. I removed the second GPU and still the same issue. it won't function for longer than a second. I also checked my psu wires and it still isn't functioning :/

That would narrow the culprits to either the motherboard or the PSU. Remove the mb's battery and put it back in after 15 minutes. Do you have another system on witch to check the PSU? If it is ok, the motherboard must be the issue.

So I just download Version 1301
from https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-X299-DELUXE/HelpDesk_BIOS/, I installed it on a toshiba 16gb usb, renamed the file, and followed the instructions on the manual to upgrade the bios. Still no progress, and the exact same issue, the pc functions for a second and then shuts down, but the gpu still has led lights on, and the monitor gets "No signal from display port." I also had an issue when upgrading BIOS for over 10 minutes, It flashed three times, but then there was a still blue LED light for 10+ mins. I ended up just switching the PSU off and taking out the usb.
I have installed my case standoffs for the motherboard and aligned them with the holes in it. So im sure that isn't the issue. Why would my case be the issue? Also when I switch my PC and the 1 second that everything functions theres a short "click" noise coming from somewhere?

I do not have another PSU, this is my first PC build. And how do you remove the battery, is it safe to do so?

Thanks a lot, I contacted them asking for advice as to how to figure out whether a specific part in my PC is faulty so that I can RMA it. I mentioned it being possibly the PSU or MOBO. I hope they will be of help. I am frustrated that I am apart of the minority that experiences these issues :(

the usb flashback did not run if it blinkied 3 times. try finding and older smaller stick. make sure the bios is in the root of the usb stick. and the stick in the right usb port. also make sure the mb not on...it needs to be off to run the usb flashback.

This is exactly what I done:
1. Downloaded the newest BIOS available for my X299 DELUXE MB
2. I cleared my USB (FAT32) so that only the bios is on it, and renamed the bios file as they say in the ASUS manual
3. I plugged the USB into the first black USB port on the MB (the one above the pink audio one)
4. I switched the power supply on
5. I pressed the bios button for 3 seconds

The issue I ran into is that it flashed 3 times, and then was just a still blue LED light for over 10 minutes so I switched it off because it shouldnt of taken that long. Also why would the BIOS be the problem, if my PC is turning on and functioning for a second and then turning off but still has power as both the GPU led lights are on above the 6+2pin cables?

What i've realised is that when i press the switch on my PC case the pc turns on for 1 second and then stops, however the gpu white led light is still on above both the 6+2 pin cords. Also my motherboard led screen doesnt turn on, but the switch on the bottom left is in lit up in red, and the reset is green. Do you know if this means anything?

I gave my entire PC to technicians at the distributor I bought my parts from, they tested it and discovered that the motherboard is in fact faulty. They have sent it back to ASUS for repair/replacement. You were right about the motherboard being the issue. Thank you.
