Looks like I need to replace my Biostar Z77B motherboard and ivy bridge i5 5570, based on my troubleshooting last night and today (going to do one final check of the PSU before I eliminate it as a problem).

Any ideas on a current motherboard and processor to get? I'm mostly a casual gamer, but I do need something powerful enough for Minecraft with large/many mods, City Skylines and Civilization 6. I also often run 30-40 browser tabs.

Here's my system, built in 2012

___i5 3570K LGA1155 (onboard gpu)
___BIOSTAR TZ77B LGA 1155 Intel Z77
___G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) [upgraded from 8GB in 2016]
___Rosewill Hive 550
___Seagate Samsung Spinpoint M8 750GB
___Windows 10 Home Premium (upgraded from Windows 7)

Edited for the correct processor, an i5 3570k (think I need to replace my brain's memory banks, ha!).

Budget board. Hoping to stay under $600 ($400 would be better) for the mobo + processor.

My recent setup did the job, but it struggled a bit to run City Skylines and Minecraft heavily loaded with mods. Part of that was memory (16GB), part of that was onboard GPU, part CPU. I'm hoping to overcome that by moving up six years in technology.
