Not sure about the health of my CPU, think i burned it.

I have been moving around my desktop computer a bit since I went to a LAN party and now I have had some issues with the core and I'm not sure if the core is damaged or if everything is fine.
I had it running for about 5 minutes with no cooling without noticing when I came home and things smelled burnt so I turned the computer off and put in the power cable to the water cooling that was missing. I checked my core temps before turning on the cooling and I had around 100C temps in the core. Now it seems ok with regular 40C but I'm not sure if cores are missing since I have a Intel i7 and in he core temp checker I can only see 5 and 4 of those cores look fine whilst one of them still is 100C somehow.

It seems like I'm missing core 3 and 7 but I got no clue what is going on or whether I should take out the CPU and reinstall or something.
Or maby everything is fine and I'm just tripping since I smelled my computer burning lol.

Thanks for any help!

i relied on Asus' AI Suite III performance utility for 3 months, and it always showed 67C max, even while rendering videos with 100% cpu load - i downloaded a few other temp monitoring utilities only to find while Asus utility was showing 67C, the others, including intel's XTU were showing 98-100C, with the temp constantly bouncing back and forth.

I corrected the temp issue, but i had rendered video files, 1-3 hour jobs, 2 to 3 a day, for 3+ months.

I then started using intel's XTU benchmarking app, and after running it it allows you to upload your score to compare to other users with same mobo and same cpu - i never fail to score in the top 5%, score wise. And this is over 3 years since. Point is, intel has thermal limiting built into the cpu for safety (of the cpu) and it works, i mean really does it's job.

download intel's Processor Diagnostic Tool and run it - won't take 5 minutes to run, but it'll report any issues with the cpu
