Help with CPU bottleneck

Hi! I'm currently CPU bottlenecked and I was wondering if there's anything I can do to reduce stuttering and sudden FPS drops. I've tried overclocking, but I've read that my motherboard is terrible for overclocking and I can very much confirm that. Outside of overclocking, what else can be done?

My specs:

AMD FX-6300
Zotac GTX 1060 6gb
12gb 1600mhz ram
asus m5a78l m/usb3
Crucial MX500 250gb

You could push this CPU to get some more MHz, even if it is heat-prone. With your setup, you'd better sell your CPU.MB,RAM and get yourself a ryzen 1500x. Best thing you can do now is make sure it is not overheating and choose wisely the settings in games that are CPU-intensive.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will upgrade, eventually, but I'm looking for a solution in the meantime.

That said, it has been impossible so far to overclock this CPU beyond 4.0 ghz. I took a lot of time reading about overclocking, most certainly I'm doing something wrong, but it seems to be a constant with everyone who has this motherboard, overclocking is minimal.

If this is the case, follow my previous recommendations. There isn't a lot you can do now unless you upgrade. Try to raise your resolution, as it will put significant load from the CPU to the GPU, which may reduce the bottleneck.

I will most certainly upgrade, but it won't be for a few months so I'm looking for a temporary solution. Well, not solution, but I thought I might've been missing something I could try so I thought I'd ask.

I'm gonna try raising the resolution get back to you. Thanks again.
