I'm working on a friend's external hard drive (1TB Seagate - Model 1K9AP1-502). She asked if I could get her data off of it somehow, stating that when she plugs it in the case light illuminates, but she can't get to any of the data.
I'm having the same issue on my PC. When I dig in further, I do see it within Disk Management (Disk 4), and within Device Manager (Disk drive).
However, when I attempt to initialize it in Disk Management, it throws an I/O error.
Any suggestions before I tear the case open and try connecting the hard drive to my PC directly to rule out a case/power issue? I'd prefer not to go that route, as it might wreck the case, but I'm not sure what else to try given the current situation.
