I have a Lenovo legion y520 gaming laptop which is running fine, a bios update just got released for it, should I update it, or leave it alone. ive always been scared to update the bios.

Solution
Since you are connected to the net you are vulnerable. What if you wake up to find that your system was locked and you need to pay $600 to unlock it? It is not about data that a hacker would target you. If you don't want to update, do as you wish, you have been forewarned.

As.long as you confirm the charger is plugged in and the battery is more that 25% charged then do the update it will most proberly improve performance slightly and fixs system instability

BIOS updates are updates. They are released to fix compatibility issues and MUCH more. It is a regular process, but if you don't wanna tinker with it you can take it to sb who can do it for you. You could leave it like it is now, but I strongly recommend updating.

I looked up what its updating in that bios version, and its to update the intel meltdown issue, which I don't care about.

"which I don't care about".....
ARE YOU SERIOUS???? It is not a matter of opinion to ignore one of the most important updates against CPU vulnerabilities that can grant access to hackers directly to your computer. You must proceed to the update, take the computer to a shop and have them do the trick for you.

first of all, no hacker is interested in me, I have nothing to hide or hack lol second im not a high profile business, I highly doubt a hacker has a interest in me lol.
