CPU temperature spikes at idle/light loads

Hello everyone,
I recently got to overclocking my Fx-6300 CPU. It is running stable (need to run more stress tests to be certain) at 4.2 GHz at 1.25V. Everything looks fine without any sort of hardware monitor but when I am at idle (around 30C) or when doing any kind of simple actions such as opening a word doc or Chrome, the temperature in the hardware monitor (I am using Afterburner) spikes sometimes upwards of 10 degrees, then cools down within a few seconds. From what I read on other threads, this might be because the CPU heats up faster than then the cooler can cool it, but as I said, I'm pretty new to this. Also at stock speeds the CPU did not have any of those spikes, so I am a bit concerned about it.
Thanks in advance

Solution
even the max temp of a spike is still under your cpu max temp,so no,i wouldnt worry about them.i see them on mine as well but,as they dont come any where near max,i dont worry about them.your temps are just fine.
4.2 is around max for a stock cooler.my 6300 spikes like that once in a while and is nothing to worry about.under stress test mine will hit 65-68c.this is nothing to worry about.if you want to take the oc any farther tho it is recommended to get a good cooler.i use an noctua nh-d14 and have no troubles at 4.5ghz.any questions, just post back.good idea to post your full computer specs as well.

You're right aldan, here are my specs

Fx 6300
Asus M5A78L-USB3
EVGA 500W PSU
Zotac 1050Ti
OCZ Vendetta (2?) CPU cooler

The only reason I don't push the CPU further is because there is no heatsink over the VRMs and they get really hot. I know those are rated to like 100C, and I feel like mine are getting close to that.

So do you think the spikes might be caused by the VRMs overheating? Or are the spikes perfectly normal? Because there were no spikes at stock speeds. My max temps now is around 55C, and even lower during gaming, but those spikes are really making me think otherwise.
