I recently got a new hard drive and wanted to move my desktop to the new hard drive but it instead copied it over and i went back to delete the other one. I then realized that all the other stuff in my new hard drive would be placed onto my desktop, so i went and tried to create a folder in the hard drive and move it there, i couldn't move it so then i tried to move it back to the original place and then it was just a mess. I kept creating new folders, i tried copying folders in my desktop and tons more. I know there is alot to work with but i just was wondering any steps i can take to finding my desktop and folders inside of i, anything i can try doing to find my stuff or work towards finding it

The desktop and all other personal files are stored in a location that is tied to your login profile.
So every user that logs in to the computer gets their own 'desktop' etc.

You are not allowed to delete or move your own profile as the directories are still in use.

From what I gather you have (or had) a working system.
You added a second disk (E:) say.

What is the end state that you want to achieve?

What state is you computer in at the moment?

To copy your files over to the new drive, go to the Users directory on the original drive, look for the user name, inside that directory you will see a Desktop, Favorites, My Documents folders. Copy those, and paste it inside the Users directory in the user name you are using on the new drive. It will just over-write the blank ones on that new setup.

Now if you started doing random copying and moving of files, who knows in what state things are now and where you files are. You may want to have someone that knows how to work with computers well look at what you did and where your files are. Do not MOVE the files, or delete anything until you are sure they are where they should be. And even then you should keep the files in both places as a backup.
