Hello Everyone. Yesterday, I bought a new laptop called Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52-50WX (2018). I love everything... The laptop specs, the eye-catching design, it's everything. It has NVIDIA Gefore GTX 1050 with 4GB VRAM, 4GB RAM, Intel Core i5 8300H, and running with Windows 10. No SSD, but I have 1TB HDD inside this laptop.
But like seriously, I only installed a few apps like Chrome, Firefox, Opera and avast Antivirus. Thats All!
And even before I installed this, it lags like hell. It just freezes many times. Even when I click the search button at the bottom left corner. It just lags. It takes quite long to boot, to shutdown, and even to open an app.
Comparing to my older Acer laptop which runs at Windows 7, with 4GB of RAM, NVIDIA Geforce GT520M with 1GB of VRAM and Intel Core i5 2nd Gen, it runs more smoother without any lag at all.
I am very dissapointed now. I spent a lot of time working for money to buy this laptop, Acer Nitro 5 for gaming purposes. And when it lags for such a simple thing, how am I gonna play a dammit game!?
Below I have attached a few screenshots of the Task Manager of my Acer Nitro 5 for your kind attention. I am hoping that anyone of you are willing to help me. I am really frustrated now.

-You might get shocked looking at my laptop's Memory. There are many 'not needed' processes and services out there running and sucking off my RAM Usage. I only want the important services and processes to run. I expect my laptop to run smoothly and the memory usage should never ever exceed 30% when I am not even using the laptop. Now my laptop's memory usage exceeds 73% when the laptop is unused. Its all the unnecessary services and processes.

I hope anyone of you helps me solve this problem. Thank You.

Solution
- Verify that your laptop windows 10 is running on high performance or balanced mode depending on your performance needs. and that the 1050 graphics is solicited correctly for graphic intensive processes and not the integrated intel 630 by monitoring through GPUz, task manager and Hwmonitor (Nvidia control panel configuration on adaptive or performance mode): How to switch graphic cards from intel to nvidia >> http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-3450172/switch-graphic-cards-intel-nvidia.html

- Monitor CPU and GPU usage : using GPUz, CPUz and Hwmonitor : for working frequencies, which GPU is in use, temperatures, fan speeds and usage percentage, looking for any throttling per power delivery settings or per thermo-throttling. Make use...

4 GB of RAM is not enough.

You only have enough to run the OS and some simple applications.

It is unlikely that you have 'not needed' processes and services. They are all there for a reason and make up a modern OS.

I suggest that you should upgrade to 8GB as a minimum (buy another 4GB memory card) as your laptop has 2 memory sockets.

16 GB would be even better.

You will not be able to run games on 4GB of RAM.

Hi! Thanks for the immediate answer. I was already planning earlier to upgrade to 8GB of RAM by adding another 4GB of RAM. I am okay with it.
I am just worried if these processes would affect my gameplay. I aspect a smooth gameplay for all the games I play. Lets say I have 8GB of RAM now (DDR4). If these annoying processes take around 2-3GB of RAM, I would be left with 5 GB of RAM usable. I then might not have enough RAM to play games like FIFA 18 or any other games like it.
Morever, DDR4 RAMs are quite expensive.

Other than buying a new RAM card, what other solutions would you do to keep your laptop stable (lagless) and avoid a lot of processes and services sucking off your RAM?
Thanks In Advance!

Make use of your laptop advanced apps (Acer Nitro Sense) to monitor system temps, performance level and fan speeds and adjust them as needed.

- It is Strongly recommended to upgrade to at least 8GB of total memory for much smoother operation.
Later on you could add a NVMe SSD as boot drive (make sure it doesn't void warranty) supported by your laptop for much snappier experience.

It takes a little time and an inevitable learning curve to get accustomed to windows 10 settings and tweaks and your laptop built in Acer apps to get the most of it.
