I have always had fairly slow internet as my wifi router is poor and outdated but my father refuses to buy a new one so I'm stuck with what I've got. To make matters worse, my room with my PC is in the opposite corner of the house from the router as well as on the second floor. To try and improve, connection, I am connected to a wifi extender placed at a mid-point in the house. Recently though the internet has been especially slow in my room. Any tips on speeding up my wifi or improving connection? Thank you!

Solution
Log in to the router and change the Wi-Fi channel from channel 6 or Auto to channel 11 or find which channel is the best for you. You can do this typing the router IP from any web browser to access the Router > Wireless Settings >

If changing channels doesn't increase speed, try a Wi-Fi analyzer app to know which channel works best. There's also a Wi-Fi booster in the page for download which you could try to increase Wi-Fi speed.

Another option is to use to buy a pair of powerline ethernet adapters instead of using WiFi, and unlike WiFi there's no configuration settings to bother with. You should see a decent speed improvement.

I've done that with my Smart TV (TV downstairs, router upstairs) - - a much more reliable and faster connection than using the TV's often frustrating WiFi.
