Pls help me straighten out this decision between these two cards and prices.

Asus is clearly the Tier 1 brand here and also offers 3yr warranty. The Strix 1070Ti runs silently, and can be OC'd to perform to 1080 levels.

The Galex EXOC 1080 on offer is $48 cheaper. A less well known brand, only 2 year warranty, and it is not a "HOF" edition.

Is the correct decision to go the Galax regardless of brand name and warranty? It remains the superior card and being cheaper is a bonus, correct?

Personally, I would go for the GTX 1080, due to the performance advantage over the 1070 Ti, not to mention it has GDDR5X memory. However, the Strix card has better cooling, comes with whistles and bells, and has a year longer warranty.

Galax actually makes decent cards in my opinion, especially when it comes to high end.

So despite the Strix having those advantages, would you still happily chose the Galax 1080 instead of it?

I will always go with the 1080 for the performance. Galax cards are actually pretty good!

Thanks all, good to know.

Is it possible that you could argue the 1070Ti would have a longer lifespan from its more effective cooling? Or would this not really matter regardless?

I imagine one answer would be "the 1080 would last until it is obsolete", but I thought I'd ask out of interest

Well, arguable that the Strix has a better cooler. The Galax cooler is decent, I doubt there would significant difference in cooling.
