ASUS mobo boot hang. Ec or Ec flash might be corrupted

I'm getting the ec or ec flash may contain corrupted data error on boot and I have no clue what could be causing it. I've pulled every cord reseated everything short of the cpu all of it. Pulled the CMOS battery, also with no avail. This rig was running fine just earlier this week so no new hardware either.
 
disconnect all the front panel ports and headers that are not necessary for boot; even if you have case fans connected, disconnect them. Just keep the important cables plugged in. Try booting using a screwdiver and touch the power button header and see if it starts without the error. If it does boot up, then you can connect one cable or headers one by one and see which is the problem...
