Hello, I was thinking of upgrading my GPU but I don't know for sure if my pc can handle it. Here are my specs:

Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i7 6700 @ 3.40GHz
Skylake 14nm Technology

RAM
8,00GB Single-Channel Unknown @ 1064MHz (15-15-15-36)

Motherboard
MEDION H110H4-EM (1151)

Graphics Card
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (MSI)

My power supply's total power output is 450W.

I wanted to replace my gtx 960 with a 1080Ti or maybe wait and buy a card from the 11 series. So can my pc handle it and should I wait for the 11 series or not?

Solution
Hello,

(All numbers i'm going to call are "general" numbers)

The processor/motherboard would need 100w/120w, the gpu could take up to idle 150w/ stressed 250w

So idle you are around 250 +- but.. the ssd/hdd/ram etc.. needs some to, so at the max stessed you could be at 500.

Depending on the quality of the PSU (Power supply), i could botthe neck way earlier or later,

if i where you and you are going to invest for a 1080ti or even better, you might as well put 80/100 in a new psu.

You may not forget that the PSU is very limited and capable to handle the 960, but not the 1080. Thus the answer is no.

What could be a recommendable and affordable compromise would be to replace the PSU and go for a 1070 ti. ;)
There is quiet good EVGA or Corsair PSUs with around 500-550W for around 40 bugs on the market.

If it was a quality psu, it would be fine for a 1080 but seeing as this is a prebuilt, the psu is mediocre at best. But a high-quality 450W psu would defo be enough if there's not many drives/fans in the pc

Yes, I agree Nico and I know that Medion does not supply its cases with quality PSUs but such devices that are just enough to make these machines affordable. You will surely not get a gold or platinum PSU when buying such a case out of the shelf.

PSU's do not cause a bottleneck. They either crash the system or fail.

OP overall a 1080ti would work fine in that system IF you replace the PSU. Any PSU in a prebuilt Medion, even one with a GTX 960 is gonna be junk. Get a good 550w unit like the Seasonic Focus 550.
