I recently bought this SSD. It isn't pictured but it comes with a little metal sheet that I believe said was a heat sink. However, it is red, which wouldn't match my system, and would have the text upside down, so I'd prefer not to use it. Is it recommended and could not using it negatively affect my system? Also, am I supposed to install this 'heatsink' on the side you can't see? Thank you!

To end this , I would say

If the manufacturer 100% believed that that heatsink was a requirement to get proper, performance from the drive it would have been fixed,in the box.

The fact it's loose & you can either use it or not would indicate that the drive will be fine either way.

Why they supplied a red heatsink I have no idea.
Black or silver (pretty neutral in any build) would have made more sense.
Removing metallic sticker will void warranty of your M.2 drive.
And there is only one way of installing it. You can't place it upside down.

Best thing you can do is putting aftermarket cooler on top of your M.2 drive.

The thing is, the heatsink/sheet/ came separately and unattached. Also, the Amazon listing doesn't even show the heatsink anywhere.

It actually looks nicer without it. Its all black and silver. I might post a pic.

Literally all I'm asking is will not using the heatsink negatively affect my system and I figured I'd give the reason why as well. Stop worrying about a simple question and get off this forum? :)

It's not even the color that bothers me as much as the upside down text would.
