My computer boots works fine for a while but everyday it just randomly blackscreens, by this i mean the computer stays running, all the fans and LED's on the inside are still on, yet my screens get "no input" all of the sudden.

I am running 3 different monitors of different makes, 1 being an ultra-wide
- all running from my MSI twin frozr 4GB GPU

I'm not sure what is causing this to happen but it has been occurring for over a year.

I have done a power calculation to see if the psu is supplying enough power to all of the components which it does.

I've had the computer for 4 years now, i have upgraded
The old CPU fan to an NZXT X72 Kraken water cooler, meaning for new thermal paste.
New GPU from some old 2gb AMD to the MSI twin frozr 4GB GPU
I did get a new case so had to transfer all the bits
New SSD running OS while HDD still holding most large files

My GPU Has a Display port which I have a converter on bringing it to HDMI, then I'm using a DVI-D port which is converted to VGA and an HDMI port.

The NZXT Cam system has caused problems before so it could be that.

I update my Nvidia drivers often

I don't know what it is, its been going on for a year, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

there's a thread over on the GeForce forums about the latest Nvidia drivers being buggy, and they identify the last known stable Nvidia driver (fortunately Nvidia has them all still available)

take a look at the 3rd post in the thread https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1035287/nvlddm...

I had a similiar issue with similiar black screen crash reports and going back to the driver they identified as the last stable driver solved my issues

going on for about a year he said... wall of text I know ;)

mine went on for about 6-7 months, and drove me crazy - i tried everything, new PSU, re-installed windows, moved the GPU to another computer to see if the issue followed the GPU, and it did - not as many black screen crashes but enough - the 2nd computer had never had any issues - both running win 7 pro

to the OP - in addition to what BOT said, try moving the GPU to another computer to see if the issue shows up on the 2nd computer

I read from the forum that Driver Booster can mess up your PC as well as MSI afterburner
which i both had xD
I've removed both programs

Please be careful with your language. Young eyes read our Forum.

Still not the make of gpu :)

And the same happens when only using one monitor? the ultrawide? And it is connected GPU DP--ADAPTER HMDI--MONITOR HDMI?

Driver booster yeah sounds shady,
MSI afterburner... shuck no... ive been using it since my 560 and it has never done me wrong.

Im using just the Ultrawide atm, that one is not converted, hdmi to hdmi
The black screening is random so ill spend some time on my pc today and see if it does it

I would definitely make sure the video driver is updated as was mentioned since two releases ago, the Geforce driver was known to cause blackscreens on some configurations.

Also, all the way you have the monitor wired up adds to the complexity of the troubleshooting. Any one of those adapters or the cable could be the issue.

Afterburner should not cause an issue at all unless you clock or power your GPU out of spec at all. I would definitely remove Driver Booster if you haven't already.

The easiest thing is to update to the latest driver. Did that work?

My driver has been updated for a while but it still black screened, i know the converters make everything harder but i kinda need it to get it to work on the monitors i got :/

besides trying that earlier driver they identify in the GeForce forum (btw, all the Nvidia drivers are available on Nvidia's site), you might to check for the latest GPU VBios - i wasn't even aware they came with later VBioses, for the different controller chips they used (samsung, micron etc)

GPU-Z will identify which you have

like you describe, my black screens were random - computer could be totally idle and i'd come back and find screen black and i'd have to do a hard reboot to get the screen back, Sometimes it would boot into black screen, again forcing hard reboot, or i might clik on a link on the web, innocent link like in the search results on amazon - one time when it black screened on me after clikking a link, i went back, did the same search and clikked the same link - bam it went black. It was literally driving me up the wall. It rarely went black when under load rendering video files, but did go black once or twice under load - it wasn't a load driven issue.

I even sent my GPU back to Zotac (under warranty still) when the issue followed the gpu to the 2nd computer - they sent it back, with notation that "no issues found". That's when i tried that earlier driver

nevermind it black screened again, i dont understand what the problem is and it is the biggest piss take, it actually the most annoying thing... if i play a game is corrupts the save, same with documents.

i had this problem before it fixed itself but what i found worked was turn off all monitors and turn them on when the black screen comes it works
