Just finished building my brand new pc and when I happen to press the power button it turns on with the motherboard lighting up and then the computer turns off after a second later. Any clues to what is causing the problem?

Usually when this happens, if you described it perfectly. It's the RAM. In all the cases I've had personally or helped people irl.

Also, a quick search on your motherboard "Supports 7th/ 6th Generation Intel® Core™ Processors" yours is 8th generation if I'm not mistaken.

What exact PSU? Check if motherboard is touching the back of the case.

That is a low quality PSU and possibly the suspect. Run the system on the iGPU, physically disconnect the GPU. Is there any other PSU available?
